December 2009
Welcome to the December eventberry email newsletter!
We wish you a happy, sustainable Christmas!
Thank you for expressing an interest in sustainable events in 2009. We have been delighted with the reception that eventberry has received in its first year, and we're looking forward to building on this in 2010 to create a growing network of sustainability professionals in the event industry.
We would like to wish you and yours a truly peaceful Christmas, and a prosperous and sustainable New Year. We hope to continue working with you to create exciting and innovative sustainable events.
In this newsletter we have an exclusive opportunity to be amongst the first to receive our new eventberry user manual when it is launched in January, and some thoughts on the Copenhagen summit.

One of the beauties of the eventberry system is that it comes with full support and backup from our team. You can call or email any time for advice and assistance with your compliance to BS8901, and wider areas of sustainability at events.
We're aware however that there may be times when this isn't practical - when you're training a new team member for instance, or explaining the system to colleagues. For this reason we have been working on a comprehensive digital user manual for eventberry which will explain in detail the functionality of the system. So next time you can't remember how to add a supplier to your project, or want to import information from one project to another, you will have a handy reference to refer to.
That doesn't mean we don't want to hear from you! And you should feel free to carry on getting in touch with us for any issues you want to discuss. We hope the user manual will be a useful addition to the eventberry system.
As a newsletter subscriber you will be among the first to receive a digital copy of the user manual in the New Year. If your colleagues and associates want to get a copy too, just ask them to sign up to receive these monthly newsletters.
Coming soon we'll have a "quick start" guide to eventberry as well as a complementary guide to compliance to BS8901.

Eventberry offers us a simple, efficient way of compiling the information we need when claiming BS8901 compliance for our events.
Working with Seventeen Events has enabled the MS Society to be amongst the first wave of organisations in the third sector to achieve BS8901 compliance across all conference activity.

Copenhagen and Climate Change - big deal or big nothing?
Hopefully you have been following the events in Copenhagen over the past week. As we publish this newsletter a lasting deal still seems a long way away. Should we be disheartened? We hope not. eventberry director Andrew Williams recently wrote an article in Meetings Review covering this very subject - you can read it here: http://meetingsreview.com/news/2009/12/11/Why_climate_change_doesn't_matter
As we start a new decade it's a good time to reflect on how much the world has changed over the past ten years. If we can harness some of the energy and enthusiasm in the world to find solutions to the problems we're now facing, we may yet have another great decade ahead of us.
Do you have any comments on how events can be more sustainable? Do you think sustainability will continue to be an issue in the events industry in the decade ahead? Let us know by emailing us at feedback@eventberry.com.

Schroders are one of the first financial organisations to seriously consider and implement compliance to BS8901. It is vital for us to have a simple, straightforward system to manage the information required to be compliant with the British standard, and Eventberry has allowed us to organise this data from our suppliers and stakeholders.
Before discovering Eventberry I was at a loss as to how to collate and report the information, so I am delighted to have found this step-by-step online tool. Plus the support and guidance from the team at Seventeen Events has been invaluable.

How Can We Help?
We want to make events in the UK more sustainable. One of the most important bits of using eventberry is that you're not on your own - we're here to help every step of the way. Premium users of the service can ask us to research sustainable venue options, decide which type of staging will work best, work out the carbon footprint of guests travel, you name it - anything that is connected to the sustainability of the event falls under our umbrella. We don't want to sell you something then leave you to get on with it - we want to work with you to ensure you get the most value and the best possible return on investment from using the system. Premium credits cost just £499 per event, and don't forget we offer a straightforward 20% discount to charities and not-for-profit organisations. We'll also offer a discount for multi project users and we can even customise the eventberry engine to sit within your own IT systems
Just call to find out more - speak to Andrew on 020 7515 5775.
