eventberry : managing sustainability for events

August 2009

Welcome to the first eventberry email newsletter!

We hope we can help make your events more sustainable and ultimately compliant to BS8901, the British Standard for sustainable event management. It's been a busy couple of months since eventberry launched so apologies it's taken us so long to get in touch. If you don't know what we're on about, have forgotten why you signed up to receive these or it's no longer relevant then please just use the unsubscribe button below - we don't want to spam you. But have a quick read first, you never know it may be just what you've been waiting for.

If you have any questions call Andrew on 020 7515 5775.

Eventberry offers us a simple, efficient way of compiling the information we need when claiming BS8901 compliance for our events.

Working with Seventeen Events has enabled the MS Society to be amongst the first wave of organisations in the third sector to achieve BS8901 compliance across all conference activity.

Schroders are one of the first financial organisations to seriously consider and implement compliance to BS8901. It is vital for us to have a simple, straightforward system to manage the information required to be compliant with the British standard, and Eventberry has allowed us to organise this data from our suppliers and stakeholders.

Before discovering Eventberry I was at a loss as to how to collate and report the information, so I am delighted to have found this step-by-step online tool. Plus the support and guidance from the team at Seventeen Events has been invaluable.

Latest eventberry news

We've already added lots of cool new features to the system, and new releases of further advances are planned for later in the year to tie in with the revised edition of BS8901. Some of the things we added recently include:

  • A Scope of Compliance field. This reflects changes to the standard in the current review. This field allows you to explain what you're claiming compliance for in relation to BS8901.
  • Scorings are now weighted in your Sustainable Risk Analysis. This means that, for example, transport will always score fairly highly.
  • Suppliers and venues can only now be invited to join, not added manually. This is a crucial shift which ensures the "compare" function works correctly. Organisers can now compare potential suppliers before inviting them to work on their project.

eventberry on the road

We officially launched eventberry at the recent Sustainable Events Summit which took place at One Wimpole Street, London. 150 key figures from the sustainable events industry got together to discuss best practice, debate the way forward and learn from fascinating guest speakers. We were delighted with the response to eventberry and that so many people signed up to the system on the day. If you'd like to see the full BS8901 compliance report produced by eventberry for this event, you can check it out on the website - www.eventberry.com.

New Suppliers, Venues and Organisers joining every day

One of the great things about eventberry is that even if you're not using the full system, you can still advertise your venue, product or service using our Supplier Hub. Signing up to the Supplier Hub makes it easier for potential clients to find you. Some of our most recent additions include:

  • Fortnum & Mason
  • The E Rejuvenation Centre
  • The Balmoral Hotel
  • Ultimate Experience
  • Connection Crew

We have more businesses signing up every day. It doesn't take long, it's free, and it allows you to see some of the features of eventberry first hand.

How Can We Help?

We want to make events in the UK more sustainable. One of the most important bits of using eventberry is that you're not on your own - we're here to help every step of the way. Premium users of the service can ask us to research sustainable venue options, decide which type of staging will work best, work out the carbon footprint of guests travel, you name it - anything that is connected to the sustainability of the event falls under our umbrella. We don't want to sell you something then leave you to get on with it - we want to work with you to ensure you get the most value and the best possible return on investment from using the system. Premium credits cost just £499 per event, and don't forget we offer a straightforward 20% discount to charities and not-for-profit organisations. We'll also offer a discount for multi project users and we can even customize the eventberry engine to sit within your own IT systems

Just call to find out more - speak to Andrew on 020 7515 5775.

There's absolutely no obligation and no hard sell - we're here to offer advice and best practice to anyone who needs it. We'll send round a newsletter every month or so to keep you up to date with what's been happening and the new features we've added to help you get the most out of the system.
